You felt the separation from the culture, our homes and languages. When you went back home things weren't the same anymore. You were ashamed that you had once lived that way. The education that they gave you was so that you could become a true real white person. Total assimilation was their goal so that you no longer spoke your language. They wanted the children to be ashamed of their culture and their origin. We definitely lost a lot.
